Helpful Hours
Helpful Hours Webinars are undergoing an exciting development! The latest round of webinars started up again after the Christmas break with around a dozen attendees all hoping to pick up tips and advice on ‘how to get the most from your audiology appointment.’ The first session of the year was warmly hosted by Julia and Emmanuelle and immediate feedback to the question ‘how might this Helpful Hour help future appointments?’ included
- “I will try to be more in control of my emotions and plan what I want to get the best out of the equipment I am provided with.”
- “It was good to hear that some of the things I’ve been experiencing are not unique to me.”
- “Building a rapport with my audiologist.”
The overall rating for this Helpful Hour is now 4.6/5* and appreciation of the volunteers’ knowledge is 4.8/5*
Most importantly, in the audience were a new cohort of peer support volunteers who are looking to present or co-present both in-person and online Helpful Hours (webinars and Teams discussion groups). This is a big step forward in the development of the service and allows us to advertise new sessions many months in advance. Many thanks to everyone taking up this opportunity!
If you haven’t attended a session yet (or since the trials), then I would recommend you give it a go. There is the session, a Q+A, and some information sheets that follow. If you already volunteer on the Helpdesk or in community settings, it will give you an insight into what an attendee may gain from signing-up and help you recommend it with confidence.
