Events we’re attending this Deaf Awareness Week

Next Monday marks the beginning of Deaf Awareness Week 2024 and it is a busy week for our charity!

From 6th-12th May, there will be events up and down the country to mark the occasion. They aim to spread awareness of hearing loss, as well as educate people on all the different forms of support that are available.

Some of our wonderful peer support volunteers will be attending these various events across the UK next week. If you’re interested in attending one of these events and want to come and say hi to our volunteers, here is where you can find them:

  • Thursday 9th May: Peer support volunteers Duncan and Kate will be attending the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Information Day 2024 in Bristol. The event will run from 11:30am to 6:30pm and is being held at SPARKS, 78 Broadmead, Bristol, BS1 3DS. It is completely free to attend.
  • Thursday 9th May: Our Hearing Support Session at Mycanae House, London will be taking place as normal during Deaf Awareness Week. Our peer support volunteers will be at the Main Hall, Mycanae House, 90 Mycenae Road, Blackheath, SE3 7SE from 1pm-3pm on this day. For future dates, please click here.
  • Thursday 9th May: Peer support volunteer Ailsa will be attending the Hear Better Mini Exhibition in Plymouth (South West England). The event will run from 10am – 2pm and is being held at the Copthorne Hotel, Armada Way, Plymouth, PL1 1AR. This is a free event and is designed for individuals and hearing professionals to find out more about the latest technology and local support available to assist people with hearing loss in daily life.
