Hearing Information Day 2024 was a huge success!

Last Friday (27 Sept), the incredible Hearing Link Services and Hearing Dogs team held our annual Hearing Information Day at our southern training centre, The Grange in Buckinghamshire.

The sold-out event was packed full of attendees (some travelling from as far as Devon and York) who were able to access information and resources about their hearing / hearing loss.

A fabulous team of peer support volunteers and experienced staff were on hand to provide technical, practical and emotional support to attendees as they learnt more about how to navigate their own, or a loved one’s, hearing loss.

Guests were treated to a selection of workshops, each designed to give attendees tools and information to make positive steps and informed choices about the management of their hearing.

The Association of Teachers of Lipreading to Adults ran taster sessions giving tips and tricks for starting out with lipreading. The Association of Hearing Healthcare Professionals and Cox Lewis Hearing helped visitors understand the importance of earwax in their workshops. And, our fabulous peer support volunteer, Merleen, delivered sessions of our brand-new Helpful Hour – ‘Managing your healthcare with hearing loss’.

Between sessions, attendees browsed our two exhibition spaces meeting and chatting with a wide range of exhibitors or they headed to Aston Hearing for a complimentary hearing health check.

Our range of guest organisations allowed us to host a truly remarkable event, and we couldn’t have done it without them. Special thanks to our exhibitors:-

  • ATLA,
  • Oxfordshire County council – Hearing Impairment Team

We were also delighted to welcome Bokkie for the day who provided fabulous, South African-inspired food and hot drinks to take the chill off!

And finally, our information day wouldn’t be complete without a chance to find out more about our clever hearing dogs.  Our “Have A Go” demonstration offered an insight to how our incredible Hearing Dogs, alert deaf people to important sounds in their homes.

We’d like to thank everybody involved in making the day a huge success including our wonderful volunteers and guest organisations! And we hope our attendees enjoyed the day as much as we did!
