Yorkshire Information Day a success

Saturday 15th July saw the first Hearing Information Day of 2023 take place at the Beatrice Wright Centre near York, our northern training centre.

We welcomed around 40 guests to this social and practical event for anyone looking to manage their hearing.

The event highlights the range of our charity’s personalised services and hearing loss products, as well as examples of technology and assistive listening devices on the market.

With staff and peer support volunteers on hand, guests could spend quality time talking over issues important to them and their loved ones, over coffee in a relaxed atmosphere.

The exhibition space in the marquee was also for local and national organisations to showcase their expertise and services.

We are grateful to our exhibitors the Association of Lipspeakers, the Advanced Bionics Community Champions, Speaksee (speech to text technology) and independent hearing care provider The Skipton Audiologist, who volunteered their time and brought a wealth of added value.

As well as the new Helpful Hours service, there was also an opportunity to ‘have a go’ at being alerted by a hearing dog.  This demo is such a great way to experience the life-changing nudge for the first time, and begin to appreciate the difference a hearing dog can make…!
