Great British Dog Walk – can you help?
Grab your walking boots and check the weather forecast – it’s the Great British Dog Walk time of year!
The dates and locations for the walks are now online and will be a great volunteering opportunity in some fabulous locations around the country including York, Devon and Aberdeenshire.
The walks are the Charity’s biggest community-based fundraisers, helping to fund every service we offer. They are a great way to meet new and familiar volunteers as well as our fabulous charity supporters.
We are looking for volunteers with a flexible approach at each walk.
These can be busy events, particularly for the set-up and the initial welcome, and roles will be allocated nearer the time.
Each walk has a ‘shotgun start’ with walkers gathering at the start line and leaving en-masse. This means volunteers might initially help with the signage, marshalling the car park, checking registration, serving refreshments, etc.
We aim for each walk to have a selection of Hearing Link Services information on display and as the participants return, at their own pace from a long or short walk, there is a more relaxed and staggered return. This will be the opportunity to highlight our Hearing Loss Services and make sure interested walkers go home with the right piece of literature, advice or knowledge to start their conversation pathway about their or a loved one’s hearing.
If you live near a walk and are free on the day (reasonable travel claims can be made), do contact Alison initially, and we’ll be in touch in due course.
