LinkUp in Yorkshire
Another successful LinkUp support group was held at the Hearing Dogs charity site in rural Yorkshire at the end of March. The happy faces in the photos says it all.
Volunteer James flew into Leeds from Belfast as part of the cohort of volunteers who are on their way to becoming facilitators of the future. He was met by fellow peer support volunteer, Emmanuelle, and together they made their way to the Beatrice Wright Centre for the weekend course.
Seventeen people, including 10 hearing ‘other halves’ were welcomed to join the sessions, held over 22-24 March.
In addition to our wonderful peer support volunteers James and Emmanuelle, they were joined by staff members Helen, Rachel, and May.
And a great job it was with wonderful feedback from our participants:
“So friendly, supportive, caring and informative. Got everyone joining in and no one left out. Went above and beyond made the weekend fantastic”
“I thought overall the LU met all my personal learning and knowledge objectives. I am leaving the session in a much better place than the one I was in. Thank you, lots of hugs and even more appreciation to you all”
And our volunteers and staff, found the weekend to be impactful too. Afterwards, James said:
“The York Linkup was amazing – great participants, lots of information shared, lots of laughs too, Helping one person, with one thing, that’s my job done.”
“I just wanted to say that both Emmanuelle and James did an amazing job and were an absolute joy to work with. Very positive, professional and caring of the participants. It was a great LinkUp all round”.
Helen, Central Support Advisor.
