Emmanuelle receives award for her fantastic work
This month, peer support volunteer Emmanuelle received the Leeds Way Award for her work at the Leeds Dental Institute (LDI) supporting deaf and hard of hearing patients and colleagues.
The award looks back at the nominees’ work over the last 12 months, and in Emmanuelle’s case they recognised her:
- survey within the LDI to determine the impact of noise in dental clinics on staff, patients and care provision.
- story in “Celebrating our Differences”, a set of short videos filmed at the LDI to promote equality, diversity and inclusion and raise awareness on the challenges deaf and hard of hearing people face on a daily basis.
- lead within the Leeds NHS Trust on the project “Accessibility in training for deaf and hard of hearing colleagues at Leeds hospital – Root causes analysis of the recurrent issues.”
- launch of the Leeds Deaf and Hard of Hearing Staff Network on 16th July 2024.
The LDI commented:
Emmanuelle said of her award, “I am very proud of this award and very touched by these comments; this is such an encouragement to keep going! But the truth is we are never as good as the people we work with; none of these projects would have happened without the constant support of the General Manager and Medical Director of the LDI and the colleagues who get involved, give their attention, time and energy for this to happen. Thank you.”
Congratulations to Emmanuelle on this well-deserved recognition!
